Acquiring deep understanding of His sublime qualities, such as ultimate Mercy, Forgiveness, and Love, among others, inspires us to embody these virtues in our own lives, enabling us to transcend our human limitations. By comprehending the roots of negative traits like greed, arrogance, jealousy, ignorance, oppression, and other unsightly behaviors and thoughts, we can cultivate a better approach towards our fellow human beings, the environment, and all living beings. These objectives are intricately intertwined, as one cannot be accomplished without the other. Hence, true spiritual knowledge becomes the key to attaining success in both this world and the hereafter.
A genuine and untainted religion would never conflict with science, for both science and spiritual enlightenment stem from the divine source of God! Islamic scholars widely acknowledge that the verses of the Holy Qur'an possess an inherent dynamism, carrying profound layers of meanings and explanations. With the advancement of science, new dimensions of interpretation are discovered, illuminating the timeless wisdom of these verses.
As per the teachings of the Holy Qur'an, a sincere follower of Islam must constantly strive to acquire knowledge. This knowledge can be obtained from various sources, irrespective of their affiliation (Shia, Sunni, etc.), as long as it fulfills the following criteria. Merely accepting or dismissing something solely based on its presence in a book or the sect advocating it is a surefire path to failure and ignorance.
Roots & historical meanings of the Arabic words in the verses should be reviewed in conjunction with the writings of philosophers and spiritual researchers from the past 1400 years. Could new scientific discoveries complement the existing interpretation of verses? Could they be windows to some new understanding of the verses? The research must pass stringent criteria before it can be published while complying with many requirements such as:
- The results shall not contradict the overall teachings of the Holy Qur'an
- The results shall not contradict proven scientific discoveries
- The results shall be logical and fair
- The results shall not contradict authentic narrations (hadith); where the hadith themselves, shall pass the above 3 tests
