The womb provides protection

Science - The womb provides protection

The mother's womb serves as a safe haven for a developing fetus, shielding it from any external forces, such as light, shock, and pressure. Enclosed by sturdy and robust bones, the uterus withstands the weight of the growing fetus until delivery. Throughout pregnancy, the ligaments connecting the upper part of the uterus to the pelvic bones increase in thickness and length, offering enhanced stability to the womb. Additionally, the amniotic fluid, placenta, and mucous plug in the cervix create a protective barrier within the womb, ensuring the baby's well-being.

  • Amniotic Fluid serves as a cushion to the unborn baby by protecting it against outside injuries, blows, sharp movements, bumps or any pressure on the mother’s tummy. Also, amniotic fluid prevents heat loss from the fetus’s body by regulating the temperature inside the womb.
  • Placenta serves as a barrier against internal threats, such as bacteria, drugs and toxic substances present in the mother’s bloodstream.
  • Mucous Plug protects the unborn baby from external contaminants, such as bacteria and viruses.

Qur'an - The womb provides protection

The Holy Qur'an describes many stages of baby's development in the womb.  For a detailed paper, please see the "Articles" section. In this section, we will discuss the womb itself.  The Holy Qur'an specifically refers to the womb as a firm protected place of safety.  Remember, this is from 1400 years ago when people had no clue about how the baby is developed in the womb.

O MEN! If you are in doubt as to the [truth of] resurrection, [remember that,] verily, We have created [every one of] you out of dust, then out of a drop of sperm, then out of a germ-cell, then out of an embryonic lump complete [in itself] and yet incomplete  so that We might make [your origin] clear unto you. And whatever We will [to be born] We cause to rest in the [mothers’] wombs for a term set [by Us], and then We bring you forth as infants and [allow you to live] so that [some of] you might attain to maturity: for among you are such as are caused to die [in childhood], just as many a one of you is reduced in old age to a most abject state, ceasing to know anything of what he once knew so well.  And [if, O man, thou art still in doubt as to resurrection, consider this:] thou canst see the earth dry and lifeless - and [suddenly,] when We send down waters upon it, it stirs and swells and puts forth every kind of lovely plant! (22:5)

Did We not create you from an insignificant fluid? Then We placed it in a firm place of safety for an appointed term (77:20-22)
