Science - Mystery of Iron

Iron is widely recognized for its robustness, making it indispensable in various construction applications. Moreover, it is an essential mineral for our bodies. Intriguingly, scientific investigation has unveiled that the formation of Iron within the Earth is implausible, given the scorching inner temperature of 5,200° Celsius (9,392° Fahrenheit). Consequently, the presence of Iron on our planet can only be attributed to its arrival from outer space millions of years ago. How exactly did Iron find its way here? One possibility lies in the intense bombardment Earth endured prior to 4.0 Ga, while another hypothesis suggests that Iron from space had accumulated in space dust, which eventually coalesced to form our planet. Regardless of the precise mechanism, one thing is certain: Iron unequivocally originated from the cosmos.

Qur'an - Mystery of Iron

Chapter 57 of the holy Qur'an is called "Iron" and verse 26 of this chapter talks about Iron.  Please note that the verse is number 26 when you count the first verse as "In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful".  It is understood that the first verse of all chapters of the Qur'an (except Chapter 9) is "In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful" but it is only written for the 1st chapter.

  • The verse says "sent down" ( أَنزَلْنَا ), the same exact word that is used for sending rain, etc. in the Qur'an.  Therefore, the verse is saying that Allah sent down the Iron to Earth from outside of the Earth (space).

  • The verse also states the fact about the strength of this metal but it also states that there are many benefits for mankind!

We sent aforetime our apostles with Clear Signs and sent down with them the Book and the Balance (of Right and Wrong), that men may stand forth in justice; and We sent down Iron, in which is (material for) mighty war, as well as many benefits for mankind, that Allah may test who it is that will help, Unseen, Him and His apostles: For Allah is Full of Strength, Exalted in Might (and able to enforce His Will) 57:26

Numbers, as we know them today, did not exist when Qur’an was revealed more than 1400 years ago. Instead, a standard Gematrical system had been implemented for different languages such as Arabic, Greek, Hebrew, etc. In this system, each letter of the alphabet is assigned a unique value. The system is called “Abjad numerals” for Arabic. For example, the Arabic letter “A” has a value of 1 and letter “D” has a value of 4. Below, please see the standard table of Arabic Gematrical values.

There is another interesting fact hidden in the above chapter and verse. The prefix "AL" meaning "the" is the Arabic "definite article".  The word for Iron without using the definite article" is  حَدِيدَ  .  If we add the Gematrical values of each letter in the Arabic word حَدِيدَ we get:

( 8 + 4 + 10 + 4) = 26   which is the Atomic Number for Iron!  However, it is also the verse number (26) where Iron is mentioned!

The word for Iron with the definite article" is  ٱلْحَدِيدَ .  If we add the Gematrical values of each letter in the Arabic word ٱلْحَدِيدَ we get:

( 1 + 30 + 8 + 4 + 10 + 4) = 57   which is the Chapter number (57) for the chapter named Iron containing the above verse!
