Science - Fecundating winds
Wind can benefit or harm humans. With the global warming, more and more hurricanes are forming and are causing massive destruction. The most important factors for human's survival are food, water, and air. The wind impacts all of the above factors.
Additionally, we can conclude that wind causes some areas of land to be more fertile directly as the result of the amount of rain (clouds) so it also affects the economy. The wind energy can be captured and used as alternative form of energy.
Qur'an - Fecundating winds
In Chapter 15, Verse 22, Qur'an beautifully states that the winds are responsible for fertilizing and fecundating.
And We send the fecundating winds, then cause the rain to descend from the sky, therewith providing you with water (in abundance), though you are not the guardians of its stores. 15:22
Additionally, Chapter 77, verses 1-6 below, also focus on the wind and angels using different kinds of words and details. These verses are associated with 2 beautiful explanations (Tafsir) according to renowned Islamic scholars. The first explanation is related to the worldly issues (wind) and the 2nd one is related to the spiritually (angels). Both explanations are provided below. Please note that the word ٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ means "those that are sent". It could be either the wind or angels.
Worldly Explanation
- The verses allude to the majestic wind. In a harmonious manner, Allah bestows upon us this wind, meticulously crafted according to His divine plan. It possesses the power to either benefit humankind or unleash destruction, entirely subject to Allah's sovereign will. The wind gracefully scatters pollen, clouds, and other particles throughout the atmosphere. As the clouds glide across the sky, they bring forth the gift of rain to certain regions while leaving others dry. Consequently, this division of weather, agriculture, and economics separates distinct areas of the Earth. Some individuals perceive the wind as a gentle reminder of Allah's profound signs and blessings, while regrettably, others may arrogantly disregard these signs, deepening their ignorance.
Spiritual Explanation
- The verses refer to the angels. Allah sends the angels in an orderly fashion for various tasks and according to His Will. Some of the angels are responsible for the formation of winds, clouds, and water to benefit humans (77:1). Some other angels may have the task of carrying orders to destroy and punishment (e.g., the angels with the task of destroying the city where prophet Hud lived) based on Allah's Will (77:2). The angels deliver and spread the Message of Allah (77:3) and separate the believers from disbelievers (77:4) by providing protection and recording of humans' actions, thoughts, and intentions. They bring good news in form of inspirations to strengthen our faith and sometimes they bring warnings to nudge us back to the Right Path (77:5-6).
By those that are sent forth orderly one after another (to man's profit); and destroy violently in tempestuous force, and scatter (things) far and wide; then separate them, one from another, and then giving forth a reminder, whether of Justification or of Warning; 77:1-6
