Science - Dark Matter
Dark Matter is a form of matter that accounts for approximately 85% of the matter in the universe. On the other hand, Dark Energy (about 69% of the energy in universe) is a form of energy that permeates all space and exerts a negative pressure that causes the universe to expand at an ever-increasing rate. Another chunk, about 26%, is thought to be dark matter. The rest of the universe, a mere 5%, is the stuff that makes up people, planets, stars and everything made up of atoms.
A team of scientists from the international Cryogenic Dark Matter Search experiment found that "Dark matter is the glue that holds galaxies together". After the Big Bang, dark matter acted like glue, pulling stars together to form galaxies. Without dark matter, galaxies would probably not have formed and they would fall apart now.
Galaxies are enveloped by giant clouds of dark matter similar to a web. Based on many observations of its gravitational pull in action, scientists are certain that dark matter exists, and have measured how much of it there is in the universe to an accuracy of better than 1%. When a dark matter stream goes through a planet, the stream particles focus into an ultra-dense filament, or "hair," of dark matter. In fact, there should be many such hairs sprouting from Earth. A stream of ordinary matter would not go through Earth and out the other side. But from the point of view of dark matter, Earth is no obstacle. According to NASA's JPL, Earth's gravity would focus and bend the stream of dark matter particles into a narrow, dense hair. Hairs emerging from planets have both "roots," the densest concentration of dark matter particles in the hair, and "tips," where the hair ends. When particles of a dark matter stream pass through Earth's core, they focus at the "root" of a hair, where the density of the particles is about a billion times more than average. The root of such a hair should be around 600,000 miles (1 million kilometers) away from the surface.
In 2023, aided by a gravitational lens, a team led by cosmologist Kaiki Taro Inoue of Kindai University in Japan has mapped the mysterious form of matter on the smallest scale we've ever seen, with a resolution of just 30,000 light-years.

2- Dark Matter resembles a network of webs covering 85% of the universe
3- Dark matter is the glue supporting & holding the universe together
4- Dark Matter Hair filaments resemble columns extending into and out of celestial bodies
Qur'an - Dark Matter
Multiple verses of Quran refer to the existence & nature of Dark Matter. The Arabic word حُبُكِ in verse 51:7 has multiple meanings: "beautiful, lovely" and "woven, knitted". The woven paths could be referring to things such as the Dark Matter Hair and web, orbits, gravitational and magnetic fields, ultrasonic and gravitational waves, cosmic rays, bending of light beams by Black Holes, and many other things resembling "pathways" in space. How is it possible for a book from 1400 years ago to contain this fact?!
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ
ٱلْحُبُكِ
"By the sky with its
numerous beautiful woven Paths" 51:7
An important historical note - Approximately 150 years after the death of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his progeny and the 8th gate of spiritual knowledge, Hazrat Imam Ali Al-Reza (AS), was asked about the meaning of "woven paths" in the above verse. He simply crossed his fingers together and answered:
"This is how strongly the heavens are supported but you can't see it"!
He then explained that verses 51:7 and 13:2 are related - "woven paths" and "invisible pillars"!
The first part of verses 31:10 and 13:2 say that God created the skies with invisible pillars. What can be considered as invisible pillars supporting all galaxies and everything in the universe? Only now in the 20th century, scientists have proven the role of invisible Dark Matter & Dark Energy as the glue keeping the universe together while Quran stated the same amazing fact more than 1400 years ago!
The 2nd part of the verse 31:10 indicates that God planted or placed some kind of anchors or nails in the Earth to secure & stabilize it. This part of the verse is also related to the mountains acting as pegs. Scientifically, the anchors could be mountains, gravitational & magnetic fields, and Dark Matter Hair filaments extending deep into the planet Earth and the Dark Matter woven in the Milky Way (described in the "Science" section on the top of this page). The glue that secures the Earth!
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى رَفَعَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ بِغَيْرِ عَمَدٍ تَرَوْنَهَا ثُمَّ ٱسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ وَسَخَّرَ
ٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ كُلٌّ يَجْرِى لِأَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى يُدَبِّرُ ٱلْأَمْرَ يُفَصِّلُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ لَعَلَّكُم بِلِقَآءِ رَبِّكُمْ تُوقِنُونَ
"It is Allah who erected the heavens with invisible pillars; then He established Himself with power over everything and made subject the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term. He arranges [each] matter; He details the signs that you may, of the meeting with your Lord, be certain." 13:2
خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ بِغَيْرِ عَمَدٍ تَرَوْنَهَا وَأَلْقَىٰ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ رَوَٰسِىَ أَن تَمِيدَ بِكُمْ
وَبَثَّ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ دَآبَّةٍ وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ
"He created the heavens with invisible pillars (support) and has cast anchors into the earth firmly
, lest it should shift with you, and dispersed therein from every creature. And We sent down rain from the sky and made grow therein plants of every fine & useful kind." 31:10
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُمْسِكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ أَن تَزُولَا وَلَئِن زَالَتَآ إِنْ أَمْسَكَهُمَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِّنۢ بَعْدِهِۦٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ حَلِيمًا غَفُورًا
"Indeed, Allah holds the heavens and the Earth, lest they cease. And if they should cease,
no one could hold them [in place] after Him. Indeed, He is Forbearing and Forgiving." 35:41
فَقَضَىٰهُنَّ سَبْعَ سَمَـٰوَاتٍ فِى يَوْمَيْنِ وَأَوْحَىٰ فِى كُلِّ سَمَآءٍ أَمْرَهَا وَزَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِمَصَـٰبِيحَ وَحِفْظًا ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْعَلِيمِ
"And He [it is who] decreed that they become seven heavens in two eons, and imparted unto each heaven its function.
And We adorned the (the 1st one) sky nearest to the Earth with lights, and made them secure (for Earth):
such is the ordaining & engineering of the Almighty, the All-Knowing." 41:12
وَمِنْ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦٓ أَن تَقُومَ ٱلسَّمَآءُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ بِأَمْرِهِۦ ثُمَّ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ دَعْوَةً مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ إِذَآ أَنتُمْ تَخْرُجُونَ
and of His signs is that the heaven and Earth remain (secure & functioning) by His command..." 30:25
