Big Bang Theory

Science - The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory stands as the foremost explanation for the origins of the universe. It posits that the universe, as we presently comprehend it, sprang forth from a minuscule singularity, subsequently expanding over a span of 13.8 billion years into the vast cosmos we recognize today. Consequently, we shall refrain from delving into the scientific discourse surrounding the Big Bang Theory, as it is widely grasped by all.

Qur'an - The Big Bang Theory

Qur'an 21:30 (sura 21, verse 30), below, clearly states that at the beginning everything was a single joined entity and then God split it apart! The Arabic word from the root of   رتق   means "to connect" and "to join" while the word  فتق   means "to separate" and "to split".

"Do not the unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before We clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?" 21:30

Verse 21:104 unveils a profound revelation regarding the ultimate fate of the world. It beautifully compares the conclusion of our existence to the act of delicately rolling or folding up a treasured parchment, rendering its contents concealed from view. Just as this ancient practice conceals knowledge, God will gather the expanse of the heavens, restoring them to their original unity before the grandeur of the Big Bang. This verse imparts two crucial insights. Firstly, it alludes to the notion that the heavens were initially bundled together, akin to a single point, before any expansion occurred. Secondly, it foretells a future moment when the expansion will cease, and the cosmos will gracefully contract back to its primordial state of harmony. In this remarkable moment, God will bestow upon us a renewed creation, a testament to His divine promise. A new world, inclusive of our existence, shall be brought forth!

he Day that We roll up the heavens like a scroll rolled up for books (completed),- as We produced the first creation, so shall We produce a new one: a promise We have undertaken: truly shall We fulfil it." 21:104

Verse 41:11, by using the word "smoke or dust" ( دُخَانٌ   ), clearly states that at the beginning the universe was in a gaseous state.  Later the Earth was formed from it.

"Then He directed Himself to the heaven while it was smoke (dust) and said to it and to the Earth, "Come [into being], willingly or by compulsion." They said, "We have come willingly." 41:11

The above verse describes how the celestial bodies and Earth initially were (dust, smoke, gases) and later God made them what they are now! We know that is how celestial bodies are formed scientifically.  Please note that the verse doesn't indicate any timeline so it may taken millions of years but all according to God's Design.

Qur'an 113:1 - The verses of the Quran exhibit an unparalleled style, encompassing myriad layers of profound meaning and intricate concepts. As the sands of time shift and scientific knowledge evolves, humanity continues to unravel countless new discoveries.  He is the One who causes the daybreak by Design. However, another meaning of the word   الْفَلَقِ   is "to split, to break apart". With this meaning, the verse may also point out to a number of other things; God initiating the Big Bang by splitting the initial point of matter, a sperm splitting open an egg, a seed splitting open in the soil, or when an atom is split open (all according to His Design).

"Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of Daybreak (to split, to break apart...)" 113:1

"He is the Originator of the heavens and earth..."  6:101
