Air pressure and chest contraction

Science - Air pressure and chest contraction

In order to sustain life, a crucial requirement is the availability of oxygen. As we ascend to higher altitudes, the atmospheric pressure gradually decreases. Consequently, all aircrafts flying at higher altitudes are equipped with regulated cabin pressure to compensate for this change. The reduction in air pressure leads to a decline in the amount of oxygen entering our bloodstream, making breathing more challenging. As the air sacs constrict and narrow, a suffocating sensation and chest pressure may be experienced.

Qur'an - Air pressure and chest contraction

Verse 6:125 generally talks about the Light of Allah and His Guidance.  However, there is also an interesting scientific angle to it.  The verse is stating that Allah's Light doesn't reach those who deny Him.  It point out that since their hearts are constricted and sealed, the Light of Allah would not enter them.  It goes on further by saying that it is similar to how the chest of a person would feel constricted and tight when he climbs into the sky!

There are a couple of important scientific facts here.  Here lie a few intriguing scientific facts. In ancient times, individuals were cognizant that ascending mountains could induce sensations of dizziness, breathlessness, and more. However, the verse in question does not allude to "climbing up a mountain," but rather, it speaks of "climbing up into the sky"! This subtle distinction captures our attention, prompting us to consider a few noteworthy points: . The pressure and constriction in your chest.  Therefore, this condition is not purely a function of mountains.

1- Qur'an wants us to ponder about the elevation change and its effects on our bodies.

2- It wants us to imagine climbing up into the sky (flying, air travel)!

So whoever Allah wants to guide - He expands his breast to [contain] Islam; and whoever He wants to misguide - He makes his breast tight and constricted as though he were climbing into the sky. Thus does Allah place defilement upon those who do not believe. 6:125
